Stainless Steel 317L Electropolish Pipes are slightly improved corrosion resistance over other alloys of stainless steel in strongly oxidizing environments as a result of the addition of columbium (niobium) and tantalum. SS 317 Rectangular Pipes has a columbium (niobium)/tantalum stabilized austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel which was developed to provide an 18-8 type alloy with improved intergranular-corrosion resistance. Stainless Steel 317L Square Pipesoffers higher creep and stress rupture properties than Alloy 304 and, particularly which might also be considered for exposures where sensitization and intergranular corrosion are concerns.
Stainless Steel 317L Round Pipes is resistant to sulfuric acid concentrations up to 5 percent at temperatures as high as 120°f (49°c) at temperatures under 100°f (38°c) this alloy has excellent resistance to solutions of higher concentration. SS 317 ERW Pipes has excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of chemicals, especially in acidic chloride environments such as those encountered in pulp and paper mills.
